After reading the negative reviews, I was hesitant to buy it, but I had owned one before and liked it. I realized that the negative reviews were related to installation, so I made sure to carefully read the reviews and customers' advice. I then carefully read the instructions and examined the product; making sure I knew exactly how it was to be installed with the overhang cabinet. I didn't like the idea of having it sticking out from the face of the cabinet and over my counter (as instructed), so I installed it set back from the overhang. Took my time, making sure that where I wanted it installed, it would still be able to function (open the cover, lift the handle, and use the accessories) before making any holes. It took me less than 20 minutes - slow and patient - the results were worth it - it's exactly where I want it and works perfectly. My advice is to "pretend" to use it while holding it where you... Ours replaced the old white B&D SpaceSaver can opener we purchased back in the early 90's. This one looks to last as long. One correction: the actual product dimensions are: 7 1/2" W x 5" H x 6 7/8" D. It was a little tricky to install due to my cabinet overhang, but, using all of the provided spacers, I was able to install it without too much difficulty. I've read other reviews that complained about the cover not opening up all the way and not being able to receive large cans. The cover DOES open up all the way, but it is a little stiff at first. Gently force it down and it will open all the way to receive the largest can sizes. Love the bottle opener and bag opener too. I especially enjoy the clean, sleek look of this can opener. It is even better than my older, spacemaker B&D can opener. |
